As you may or may not know I have recently adopted my first Silkstone
*happy dance*
Well as every good dolly mum knows, these are not just any doll
and require a suitable setting in which to reside.
So while waiting for my girl to arrive I have cleared an entire
shelf just for her...That is right I now have
5 MIB's to find a new display area for.
Anyway this page for now is dedicated to the process of converting
the space from plain old shelf to luxurious boudoir
fit for a Silkstone.
Money for dollies is tight so most of what I do is going to be
on a budget and home made by me...At lest for now *wink*

Before:
This is the couch from the Victorian Barbie House...Your Standard
White Plastic Barbie Furniture. |
After:
Using black matt spray paint, I gave the couch a couple of coats.
Then I added the beautiful brocade fabric as slip covers....Why
slip covers and not glue the fabric on...Simple..I want to be able
to change the color scheme of my dollhouse when ever the mood should
take me lol |
 |
Test Run:
Of course we need to try it out for size....Jesse here was happy
to oblige....After all that dancing she need to sit a spell.
You may have noticed the painting behind the couch...This is one
of my own paintings. The rug is a mini printable (thnx for the tip
Jeff)
The couch is not totally finished...I am going to add a fringe skirt
to it and other small details. |
I also braved the bottom of my
daughters closet...She is now 13 and no longer in need of her
barbie's (so she thinks) well that isn't fair...She does have
a nice collection of display dolls herself...but has not played
with her barbie's for about 4yrs.
Anyway your wondering how me braving a teenagers closet is relevant...I
found lots of little goodies I intend to put to good use....The
couch was just one of them. As this page develops you will see
what I mean.
But for now...This is as far as I have gotten...My girl should
arrive tomorrow or the next day...I don't know if I can wait that
long lol. |
